THE GADSDEN FAITH BUILD HAS BEGUN!
Building has begun on the Gadsden Faith Build in Quincy, Florida. The home is being built for Gadsden County resident, Shanda Cummings and her family. The 4/2 home is being sponsored by several Gadsden County churches and businesses including Centenary United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church of Chattahoochee, Woodland Presbyterian Church, The Community Foundation of North Florida, Hinson Oil Co. and Workforce Plus--Gadsden.
Although extremely hot and muggy this past Saturday, the build site on South 10th Street was filled with sounds of hammering and laughter as volunteers from sponsor churches worked side-by-side with Habitat Board members and staff and future Habitat homeowners to raise the walls on a safe, decent and affordable home for Shanda and her family. The Habitat mission could not be achieved without the help received from our build sponsors, donors and volunteers. Thank you to all who sponsor, donate and volunteer in order to make homeownership a reality for a family in need.

Future Gadsden County homeowner, Shanda Cummings.

Big Bend Habitat for Humanity and The Warrick Dunn Foundation

Through another great partnership, new Habitat homeowner, LaTeshee' Daniels and her family were, not only the recipients of the keys to their new Habitat for Humanity home (sponsored by FSU and FAMU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapters, Premier Bank and the Leon High School Student Government Association) but were also the recipients of The Warrick Dunn Foundation's "Home for the Holidays" program. LaTeshee' and her daughter, Jakyah, were excited to be receiving the keys to their new Habitat home located in the Tallahassee Highlands Neighborhood on Pennlyn Drive. In addition, they were doubly surprised when former FSU football star, Warrick Dunn rewarded the single mother for becoming a first-time homebuyer with substantial downpayment assistance and complete home furnishings for every room in the home as a Mother's Day gift.
We congratulate LaTeshee' on her monumental accomplishment and we thank all of our sponsors and volunteers for the hard work and commitment given to providing--a hand up, not a hand out--to families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing in Leon and Gadsden Counties.
